8 mm tall on a 160 mm print
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
- Rose window and arcades
A round rose window and rows of small arches mark the west front and the side walls. Print friendly adapts these small details to the print scale; Full detail keeps them, which suits a larger print.
- Small pointed turrets
Several small turrets with pointed caps sit along the roofline. Layers of 0.12 to 0.16 mm keep the tips crisp, and printing slowly helps these thin parts.
- One piece with the ground
Modena Cathedral is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. Modena Cathedral takes the building color.
- File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About Modena Cathedral
Modena Cathedral is a Roman Catholic cathedral standing in the Italian city of Modena, and people informally call it the Duomo di Modena. Its dedication honors Saint Geminianus and the Virgin Mary's Assumption. Since 1986 it has served as the archbishop's seat for the Archdiocese of Modena-Nonantola. Pope Lucius III consecrated it on July 12, 1184, and it counts as an important Romanesque building in Europe. The cathedral shares its World Heritage Site designation with the bell tower called the Torre della Ghirlandina.
Two churches had stood on the site since the 5th century. Finding the burial place of Saint Geminianus, the patron saint of Modena, led to those churches being torn down and to the cathedral being built by 1099, and the saint's remains are displayed in the crypt. An architect known as Lanfranco provided the initial design and direction. After Lanfranco, Anselmo da Campione and his heirs, known as the Campionese masters, embellished the building, so the façade shows different styles. Anselmo added the rose window in the 13th century, and two lions at the entrance columns date to Roman times.
Wiligelmus, who was a contemporary of Lanfranco, made reliefs on the façade, among them prophets and patriarchs and the Biblical Stories, described as a masterpiece of Romanesque sculpture. On the north side, the Porta della Pescheria has an archivolt with a very early Arthurian scene, which may be the first monumental sculpture of the Arthurian legend.
