About the Pantheon

The Pantheon, in Rome, Italy, is an ancient temple that has served as a Catholic church since AD 609, with a dedication to St. Mary and the Martyrs. Marcus Vipsanius Agrippa commissioned an earlier temple on the site during the reign of Augustus. After that building burned down, the emperor Hadrian completed the present one, which was probably dedicated around AD 126. Its construction date is uncertain, because Hadrian chose to carry over Agrippa's original date inscription.

Apart from the portico, the building is round. Eight large granite Corinthian columns stand in the front rank of the porch, with two groups of four behind them, under a pediment. A rectangular vestibule joins the portico to the rotunda, which is covered by a coffered dome of Roman concrete with an opening, the oculus, at its center. The height to the oculus equals the diameter of the interior circle: 43 m (142 ft). The dome is still the largest unreinforced concrete dome anywhere, nearly two thousand years after its construction.

Among ancient Roman buildings it ranks as one of the best preserved, largely because it has never stopped being used. The square in front is called Piazza della Rotonda, and the building is state property. A large circular domed cella behind a conventional temple portico was unique in Roman architecture, yet later architects copied it many times after classical styles were revived.

How it prints

Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

Landmark height and scale at three print sizes
Print size Landmark height Scale

Columned front porch
Eight narrow columns carry the pediment at the front, and they are the most delicate part of the model. Print friendly adapts thin columns to the print scale; Full detail keeps them on larger prints.
Stepped dome with an open crown
The dome rises in stepped rings to an open oculus. Layers of 0.12 to 0.16 mm keep the curved steps smooth, and a larger print shows the oculus and the arched recesses on the drum more clearly.
One piece with the ground
The Pantheon is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The Pantheon takes the building color.
File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.

About this model

The Pantheon is one of more than 2,300 landmark models in Mini Skyline. They are made with AI, and each one is checked from four sides in its real surroundings before release. Everything around it is built from OpenStreetMap and Overture map data. If you would rather print the shape from map data, turn off Landmark models in the Buildings settings.

Common questions

Is there a Pantheon STL I can download?

Mini Skyline builds the file for you in your browser and exports 3MF, which every major slicer opens. If you need an STL, open the 3MF in your slicer and export it from there.

How big can I print it?

Any print size from 40 mm across. The Pantheon grows with the print: about 12 mm tall on the default 160 mm print. For a model larger than your printer bed, Project Mode splits the area into tiles.

Is it free?

Yes. Generation runs in your browser, with no account and nothing behind a paywall.
