About the New North Reformed Low Dutch Church
New North Reformed Low Dutch Church is a Dutch Reformed church in Upper Saddle River, a borough in Bergen County, New Jersey, at the corner of East Saddle River Road and Old Stone Church Road. It also goes by the names Saddle River Reformed Church and Old Stone Church. The congregation dates from 1784, when it was organized out of the Paramus Reformed Church, and a first church may have stood on the site around 1789.
The stone church standing there was built between 1814 and 1819 and restored from 1971 to 1972. A replica pulpit follows the design of the original, which was imported from the Netherlands. Several soldiers of the American Revolutionary War are buried in the cemetery, and the Historic American Buildings Survey documented the building in 1936. Its National Register of Historic Places listing dates from April 15, 1982.
