4 mm tall on a 160 mm print
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
- Small lantern and gallery
The lantern room on the roof has a thin railing and a small cap. Print friendly adapts them to the print scale; Full detail suits a larger print, and a layer height of 0.12–0.16 mm keeps them crisp.
- Stone-textured walls
The walls carry a fine stone pattern, which reads best at a larger print size or with Full detail. A small chimney sits on the roof ridge.
- One piece with the ground
The Old Field Point Light is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The Old Field Point Light takes the building color.
- File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About the Old Field Point Light
In Old Field, a village on Long Island's North Shore in New York, stands Old Field Point Light. It sits at the village's northern tip, between the harbor entrances at Stony Brook and Port Jefferson, and dates back to 1823. The federal government paid $2,500 for the original work, then $1,500 more to finish the lighthouse in 1824. Nine whale oil lamps provided the first light, amplified by a big glass reflector.
In 1868 a replacement lighthouse arrived, lit by kerosene lamps, and in 1933 an automatic light that revolves was added. During its working years, the caretaker lived in the Old Field village hall. The U.S. government returned the light to Old Field in 1935 but kept the right to reclaim it in a national emergency. The Coast Guard did reclaim it during World War II and gave it back to the community once the war ended.
Its design is shared by lighthouses on Block Island North in Rhode Island and Plum Island in New York, as well as three in Connecticut: Sheffield Island (Norwalk), Morgan Point (Noank) and Great Captain Island (Greenwich). In 2024, the National Register of Historic Places listed the light.
