About One Canada Square
One Canada Square, in London's Canary Wharf, is a skyscraper of 50 floors that rises 235 m (770 ft) above ground level. When it was completed in 1991 it became the UK's tallest building, and it kept that record for 21 years, until The Shard was finished in 2012. The tower is mostly used for offices, with a few shops at lower ground level.
César Pelli designed the tower together with the firms Frederick Gibberd Coombes and Adamson Associates. The tower is clad in stainless steel. A flashing aircraft warning light sits in the pyramid roof, which is uncommon for buildings in the UK. The pyramid pinnacle is 240 m (800 ft) above sea level. The tower has a shape similar to 200 Vesey Street in New York City, which Pelli also designed, and it was made reminiscent of Big Ben. It was first designed with 55 stories, but five floors were removed to meet air traffic safety regulations.
Construction began in 1988. The building used roughly 27,500 metric tons of steel made in Britain, along with 500,000 bolts, and 222 piles were driven 23 meters into the ground. A concrete raft 4 meters thick was set into the dock to serve as an anchor. The tower was topped out on November 8, 1990, when a crane lifted the uppermost section of the pyramid roof into place. The Duke of Edinburgh officially opened it on August 26, 1991.
How it prints
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
| Print size | Landmark height | Scale |
|---|---|---|
| 160 mm default | 63 mm | 1:3,750 |
| 200 mm | 79 mm | 1:3,000 |

- A tall, slim shaft
- The tower is a narrow square shaft that stands among other tall towers. Printing slowly and using layers of 0.12 to 0.16 mm helps keep the vertical lines straight and clean.
- Pyramid roof and facade grid
- The pointed pyramid top and the fine grid of the facade are small features. Print friendly adapts them to the print scale; Full detail keeps more of them, which suits a larger print.
- One piece with the ground
- One Canada Square is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
- In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
- Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. One Canada Square takes the building color.
- File format
- You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About this model
One Canada Square is one of more than 2,300 landmark models in Mini Skyline. They are made with AI, and each one is checked from four sides in its real surroundings before release. Everything around it is built from OpenStreetMap and Overture map data. If you would rather print the shape from map data, turn off Landmark models in the Buildings settings.
Common questions
Is there a One Canada Square STL I can download?
Mini Skyline builds the file for you in your browser and exports 3MF, which every major slicer opens. If you need an STL, open the 3MF in your slicer and export it from there.
How big can I print it?
Any print size from 40 mm across. One Canada Square grows with the print: about 63 mm tall on the default 160 mm print. For a model larger than your printer bed, Project Mode splits the area into tiles.
Is it free?
Yes. Generation runs in your browser, with no account and nothing behind a paywall.
