About Rainier Square Tower
Rainier Square Tower is a skyscraper of mixed uses in downtown Seattle, Washington, within the Metropolitan Tract. It rises between 4th Avenue and 5th Avenue on Union Street, beside the older Rainier Tower, with 58 stories at a height of 260 meters (850 ft). The $600 million project was finished in 2020, and it is the tallest building put up in Seattle since the Columbia Center in 1985.
NBBJ designed the tower, with Mindy Levine-Archer as design partner. Its profile slopes: a wide base gradually becomes slimmer on the higher floors. Early designs started the taper higher up, but it was moved lower so the tower would not hide the unusual pedestal base of Minoru Yamasaki's neighboring Rainier Tower. The program has nearly 200 apartments, 750,000 square feet of offices and 30,000 square feet of retail, with six levels of parking below ground.
The steel core began going up in October 2018, and the building topped out in August 2019. The core relies on a shear wall system, described as radical, that places steel plates between the concrete elements where rebar and formwork would normally go, which cut the time needed to build the floors. The tower was completed in September 2020.
How it prints
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
| Print size | Landmark height | Scale |
|---|---|---|
| 160 mm default | 71 mm | 1:3,750 |
| 200 mm | 88 mm | 1:3,000 |
| 256 mm | 113 mm | 1:2,344 |

- Tall, slim shaft
- The tower is slim for its height and ends in a flat top. Print slowly with good cooling so the upper floors stay clean; a larger print size also keeps the slim shaft sturdier.
- Fine facade lines
- Fine vertical and horizontal lines cover the facade. A layer height of 0.12–0.16 mm keeps them crisp, and Full detail keeps every modeled line on larger prints.
- One piece with the ground
- Rainier Square Tower is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
- In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
- Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. Rainier Square Tower takes the building color.
- File format
- You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About this model
Rainier Square Tower is one of more than 2,300 landmark models in Mini Skyline. They are made with AI, and each one is checked from four sides in its real surroundings before release. Everything around it is built from OpenStreetMap and Overture map data. If you would rather print the shape from map data, turn off Landmark models in the Buildings settings.
Common questions
Is there a Rainier Square Tower STL I can download?
Mini Skyline builds the file for you in your browser and exports 3MF, which every major slicer opens. If you need an STL, open the 3MF in your slicer and export it from there.
How big can I print it?
Any print size from 40 mm across. Rainier Square Tower grows with the print: about 71 mm tall on the default 160 mm print. For a model larger than your printer bed, Project Mode splits the area into tiles.
Is it free?
Yes. Generation runs in your browser, with no account and nothing behind a paywall.
