Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
- The spire and its angel
The spire and the angel on top are the narrowest parts of this cathedral to print, and the ones most likely to lose shape at a small size. Print slowly with good cooling, and use 0.12–0.16 mm layers so the spire stays crisp.
- One piece with the ground
The Saints Peter and Paul Cathedral, Saint Petersburg is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The Saints Peter and Paul Cathedral, Saint Petersburg takes the building color.
- File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About the Saints Peter and Paul Cathedral, Saint Petersburg
The Peter and Paul Cathedral is a Russian Orthodox cathedral in the fortress of the same name in St. Petersburg. It was built from 1712 to 1733 on Hare Island, beside the Neva River, and counts as the city's first and oldest landmark. Both cathedral and fortress were built under Peter the Great, and Domenico Trezzini designed them; the cathedral was also the city's first stone church.
Its bell tower, which carries the spire, is the tallest Orthodox bell tower in the world. Because the belfry is part of the main building rather than a separate tower, the cathedral is sometimes counted as the second-tallest Orthodox church worldwide. The gold-painted spire is 123 meters (404 ft) tall, and an angel holding a cross stands at the top; that angel ranks among the city's most important symbols.
Nearly every Russian emperor and empress, from Peter the Great through Nicholas II and his family, is buried in the cathedral; Nicholas II and his family were laid to rest there in July 1998. The building closed in 1919, became a museum in 1925, and services began again in 2000. A carillon from the Flemish city of Mechelen was a gift, and a new set of 51 bells was cast in the south of the Netherlands in 2001.
