About Sheraton Phoenix Downtown

Sheraton Phoenix Downtown, a convention hotel, stands in Downtown Phoenix, Arizona, north of Van Buren Street on 3rd Street. It sits next to the Phoenix Convention Center and the Arizona Center, a complex of offices and shops. The project cost US$350 million. The Phoenix City Council approved it in July 2003, with the city as owner and Sheraton Hotels as developer and operator, as a Starwood facility. Standing 31 floors high, it overtook the 24-floor Hyatt Regency Phoenix as Arizona's tallest hotel tower.

On November 3, 2004, the city announced that it had picked two firms, Arquitectonica and RSP Architects, for the project. Ground was broken in late March 2006, the tower reached its full height in October 2007, and the hotel opened to guests on September 30, 2008.

It offers 1,000 rooms and 7,400 m2 (80,000 square feet) of meeting space, including a ballroom of 2,700 m2 (29,000 square feet). Its exterior browns, oranges and yellows were picked to evoke the desert sky at sunset, and the curved roofline echoes the slope of nearby Camelback Mountain.

How it prints

Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

Landmark height and scale at three print sizes
Print size Landmark height Scale
160 mm default 30 mm 1:3,750
200 mm 37 mm 1:3,000
256 mm 47 mm 1:2,344

Large flat faces with lettering
The tower's broad faces carry fine engraved lines and lettering near the top. A layer height of 0.12–0.16 mm keeps them legible, and "Full detail" keeps them on a larger print.
Curved crown and tall slab
The top edge curves gently across the slab. Printing the upper layers slowly and a larger print size help this tall, narrow tower stay stable and smooth.
One piece with the ground
Sheraton Phoenix Downtown is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. Sheraton Phoenix Downtown takes the building color.
File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.

Common questions

Is there a Sheraton Phoenix Downtown STL I can download?

Mini Skyline builds the file for you in your browser and exports 3MF, which every major slicer opens. If you need an STL, open the 3MF in your slicer and export it from there.

How big can I print it?

Any print size from 40 mm across. Sheraton Phoenix Downtown grows with the print: about 30 mm tall on the default 160 mm print. For a model larger than your printer bed, Project Mode splits the area into tiles.

Is it free?

Yes. Generation runs in your browser, with no account and nothing behind a paywall.
