About St. Gallen Cathedral
In the Swiss city of St. Gallen stands a Roman Catholic church known by its German name, Stiftskirche St. Gallus und Otmar. It once belonged to the Abbey of St. Gall. In 1847 the Diocese of St. Gallen was established, and the church became its cathedral. It is regarded as one of the final great religious buildings of the Baroque period, and it has UNESCO World Heritage status.
The cathedral occupies the site where Gall, an itinerant Irish monk, built a hermitage in 612. Gall died around 650 and was buried in the oratory of his cell, and his tomb now lies beneath the high altar, in a crypt that dates to 837–39. In 719, Otmar, the first abbot of the brotherhood, enlarged the cell, creating the Abbey of St. Gall, and a first abbey church rose over Gall's grave around that time.
Prince-abbot Cölestin Gugger von Staudach started work on the present church in 1755, and it was finished in 1767. Peter Thumb, who belonged to the Auer Zunft and likewise designed the famous library of the Abbey, was its designer. Most of its frescoes were painted by Josef Wannenmacher, and its historic church bells form the most complete set in Switzerland. In 1805 the abbey was dissolved by the Canton of St. Gallen, and a renovation between 1962 and 1967 returned the interior to its original state.
How it prints
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

| 200 mm | 23 mm | 1:3,000 |

- Twin domed towers
- The two towers end in domed caps topped with small crosses. Print friendly adapts these thin tips to the print scale; Full detail keeps them on a larger print, printed slowly with good cooling.
- A steep roof with small dormers
- The long roof carries many small dormers, and tall arched windows line the walls. Layers of 0.12–0.16 mm keep them crisp.
- One piece with the ground
- St. Gallen Cathedral is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
- In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
- Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. St. Gallen Cathedral takes the building color.
- File format
- You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
