About Tallinn Seaplane Harbour hangars

Tallinn's Seaplane Harbour (Lennusadam in Estonian) houses a maritime museum, which opened in spring 2012 and belongs to the Estonian Maritime Museum. It sits in a building put up as a seaplane hangar, inside the Naval Fortress of Peter the Great, by the Tallinn aeroplane harbor.

The hall measures 8,000 m² (86,000 sq ft) in area. It was decommissioned in Soviet times. Renovation began in 2010, with funding from the Estonian state (30%) and the European Regional Development Fund (70%). The museum tells Estonia's story as a seafaring country in a modern visual style.

Lembit, a submarine from 1936 that Estonia ordered from the United Kingdom, is the main attraction and has been restored to look as it did in the 1930s. A full-scale copy of a Short Type 184 seaplane, a type from the World War I period, is on display, and a yellow submarine lets visitors try piloting. The 16th-century wreck of the wooden ship Maasilinn and the icebreaker Suur Tõll are also on show, spread across three levels: air, sea and beneath the sea.

How it prints

Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

Landmark height and scale at three print sizes
Print size Landmark height Scale
160 mm default 7 mm 1:3,750
200 mm 9 mm 1:3,000
256 mm 11 mm 1:2,344

Three barrel-vault roofs
The hangar is three curved roofs side by side, each with a small round cap. A layer height of 0.12 to 0.16 mm keeps the curves smooth on a larger print.
A low, wide building
The hangar is low against its footprint. Print friendly adapts the small roof caps to the print scale, and a larger print size keeps more detail.
One piece with the ground
Tallinn Seaplane Harbour hangars is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. Tallinn Seaplane Harbour hangars takes the building color.
File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
