About Tovrea Castle
Tovrea Castle stands in Phoenix, Arizona, at 5041 East Van Buren Street, on 44 acres (18 ha). Locals call it the "Wedding Cake Castle". Alessio Carraro built it between 1929 and 1931 in a vernacular Italianate style; the original idea was for it to be the hotel at the heart of a planned destination resort. E.A. and Della Tovrea bought it in 1931 and it became a private residence.
The building is made of granite block, pine wood and stucco, and is arranged in four tiers that strongly resemble a traditional wedding cake. Parapets surround the roofline of each tier, and the interior and exterior light fixtures show Art Deco detailing. Despite the local legend, E. A. Tovrea did not build the castle for his wife as a copy of their wedding cake; the Tovreas bought it from Carraro.
Its entry on the National Register of Historic Places dates from 1996, and it belongs to the Phoenix Parks System. The grounds hold more than 5,000 individual cacti of over 100 varieties. Drivers on Loop 202 get a clear view of it, which has made it one of the most prominent landmarks in Phoenix.
How it prints
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
| Print size | Landmark height | Scale |

- Battlements on every tier
- Each of the four tiers has small crenellations along its edge. At small sizes Print friendly simplifies them; a larger print or Full detail keeps the notches, and 0.12–0.16 mm layers keep them sharp.
- Dome and spire on top
- The small dome carries a thin spire. Print slowly with good cooling so the tip does not droop, and keep the print size generous.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
- In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
- Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. Tovrea Castle takes the building color.
- File format
- You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About this model
Tovrea Castle is one of more than 2,300 landmark models in Mini Skyline. They are made with AI, and each one is checked from four sides in its real surroundings before release. Everything around it is built from OpenStreetMap and Overture map data. If you would rather print the shape from map data, turn off Landmark models in the Buildings settings.
Common questions
Is there a Tovrea Castle STL I can download?
Mini Skyline builds the file for you in your browser and exports 3MF, which every major slicer opens. If you need an STL, open the 3MF in your slicer and export it from there.
How big can I print it?
Any print size from 40 mm across. Tovrea Castle grows with the print: about 4 mm tall on the default 160 mm print. For a model larger than your printer bed, Project Mode splits the area into tiles.
Is it free?
Yes. Generation runs in your browser, with no account and nothing behind a paywall.
