2 mm tall on a 160 mm print
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
- Shallow relief on the front
The curved entrance bay and rows of windows are shallow details. Print friendly adapts them to the print scale; Full detail keeps them on a larger print.
- Large flat roof
Both sections have broad, flat roofs. A layer height of 0.12–0.16 mm keeps the edge trim crisp, and a bigger print size helps small details show.
- One piece with the ground
The United States Post Office, Bay Shore is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The United States Post Office, Bay Shore takes the building color.
- File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About the United States Post Office, Bay Shore
Bay Shore's post office sits at 10 Bay Shore Avenue, north of Main Street, in Bay Shore, New York. It also serves ZIP code 11706, an area that takes in Point O'Woods, Fair Harbor, Dunewood, Saltaire and Kismet on Fire Island.
The building was designed by Louis A. Simon together with the artist Wheeler Williams. Simon also worked on the post offices in Northport, Riverhead and Westhampton Beach, but those were designed together with the U.S. Treasury Department, while the Bay Shore office was not. Its style is listed as Colonial Revival.
The National Register of Historic Places listed it in 1988, a year before the other post offices Simon built in Suffolk County were listed. It forms part of a group listing of U.S. post offices in New York State from 1858 to 1943.
