About Wawel Castle
Wawel Royal Castle and Wawel Hill are described as Poland's most historically and culturally significant site. King Casimir III the Great ordered the castle established as a fortified residence on the Vistula in Kraków, and over the centuries it was enlarged into several structures around a Polish Renaissance courtyard. Medieval, Renaissance and Baroque periods are all represented, with nearly every European architectural style of those eras on display.
The castle belongs to a fortified complex atop a limestone outcrop, on the Vistula's left bank, 228 m (748 ft) above sea level. Polish monarchs were both crowned and buried at Wawel Cathedral, one of the complex's many buildings of great national and historical importance. Some of its oldest stone buildings go back to 970 CE, alongside Poland's earliest Romanesque and Gothic examples. The present castle dates to the 14th century and grew over the following centuries. Wawel was the seat of national government until the capital moved to Warsaw in 1596.
Long the residence of Poland's kings and a symbol of Polish statehood, the castle houses a museum established in 1930, with ten curatorial departments. Its collections include an important group of Italian Renaissance paintings and the Sigismund II Augustus tapestry collection. Its oriental art includes Europe's largest collection of Ottoman tents. The Historic Centre of Kraków, which includes Wawel, was declared a World Heritage Site in 1978.
How it prints
Make this print opens the generator on a 700 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

- Long, thin curtain walls
- Thin walls run around the hill, joined by round towers. Print friendly adapts thin walls to the print scale; a larger print size keeps them sturdy.
- Small domes and tower caps
- Small domes and pointed caps top the main buildings and towers. Print slowly with good cooling, and use Full detail on a larger print to keep them.
- One piece with the ground
- Wawel Castle is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
- In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
- Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. Wawel Castle takes the building color.
- File format
- You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About this model
Wawel Castle is one of more than 2,300 landmark models in Mini Skyline. They are made with AI, and each one is checked from four sides in its real surroundings before release. Everything around it is built from OpenStreetMap and Overture map data. If you would rather print the shape from map data, turn off Landmark models in the Buildings settings.
Common questions
Is there a Wawel Castle STL I can download?
Mini Skyline builds the file for you in your browser and exports 3MF, which every major slicer opens. If you need an STL, open the 3MF in your slicer and export it from there.
How big can I print it?
Any print size from 40 mm across. Wawel Castle grows with the print: about 18 mm tall on the default 160 mm print. For a model larger than your printer bed, Project Mode splits the area into tiles.
Is it free?
Yes. Generation runs in your browser, with no account and nothing behind a paywall.
