The print covers 22 by 22 km. On a 160 mm print the summit stands 25 mm above the valleys.

  • Taller than life

The print opens with the Elevation multiplier at 1.5, so the mountain stands 1.5 times its true height and its shape reads clearly at this size. Set it to 1 for true scale.

  • The trail

The Around the Mountain Circuit prints as a raised 1.2 mm orange line, drawn from its OpenStreetMap route. Give it its own filament color, or turn it off on the GPX tab.

  • Colors

Forest, meadow, bare rock, ice and water each get their own color where the land has them, so a multi-color printer shows where the trees give way to rock.

About Mount Taranaki

Mount Taranaki, officially Taranaki Maunga and also known as Mount Egmont, is a dormant stratovolcano on the west coast of the North Island. At 2,518 metres (8,261 ft) it is the second-highest mountain on the island.

Its secondary cone, Fanthams Peak (1,966 m), sits on its south side.

The Around the Mountain Circuit

The Around the Mountain Circuit circles the whole cone, mapped in OpenStreetMap as a loop of over 100 km.

The print draws the loop around the mountain, past Fanthams Peak on the south side.

Common questions

Is the Mount Taranaki 3D print free?

Yes. The generator runs in your browser and exports a 3MF file you can open in any common slicer. There is no account or payment.

Is the Around the Mountain Circuit on the print?

Yes. Print this mountain adds it from its OpenStreetMap route (106 km as mapped) and raises it on the terrain. The footprint is 22 by 22 km, centered on the summit and wide enough for all of it.

Is the mountain printed at its true height?

It starts at 1.5 times its true height, about 25 mm of relief on a 160 mm print, because true scale looks flat at this size. Set the Elevation multiplier to 1 for true scale, or higher for a more dramatic model.

Can I get an STL instead of a 3MF?

The generator exports 3MF, which keeps each color as its own part. Any slicer can open it and save an STL if you need one.
