21 m of the Arena of Nîmes, 6 mm on your shelf
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
- Two rows of arches
Two tiers of narrow arches circle the whole oval. Print friendly adapts them to the print scale; Full detail keeps every arch on a larger print, and layers of 0.12–0.16 mm keep them crisp.
- Fine details along the rim
Small posts and ledges run along the top rim of the wall. A larger print size keeps them distinct, and printing slowly helps the thin rim.
- One piece with the ground
The Arena of Nîmes is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The Arena of Nîmes takes the building color.
- File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About the Arena of Nîmes
In Nîmes, in Southern France, stands the Arena of Nîmes, a Roman amphitheater erected around 100 AD, some twenty years after the Colosseum in Rome. It ranks among the world's best-preserved Roman amphitheaters. The building measures 133 m (436 ft) by 101 m (331 ft), and its central arena is 68 m (223 ft) by 38 m (125 ft). The outer wall rises 21 m (69 ft) and has two stories of 60 arcades each. Of the 400 Roman amphitheaters that exist, it is among the 20 largest.
In Roman times it seated 24,000 spectators on 34 tiers of terraces, grouped in four self-contained zones called maeniana. Gladiators fought one another and wild animals there. These contests ended with early medieval Christianity, and the amphitheater became a fortress and later a walled town. Clearing the houses built inside began in 1786, and in the 19th century the arena was restored, with the architect Henri Revoil completing the work in the middle of the century.
The first bullfight in the restored arena took place in 1853, and public events have returned there at regular intervals since then. Two bullfights are held each year as part of the Feria de Nîmes, and the arena also hosts concerts and "The great Roman Games", a reenactment of antiquity. The Festival de Nîmes music festival has been held in the arena each summer from 1997 onward, and the arena was part of the route for the opening stage of the 2017 Vuelta a España.
