About 44 Monroe

Costing US$70 million, 44 Monroe is a residential high-rise of 48,645.8 m2 (523,619 square feet). It stands where Monroe Street meets First Avenue, on the northeast corner, in Downtown Phoenix. The tower has 34 stories and takes its name from the site's address. The look of both the exterior and the interior was inspired by a painting called "Five Elements" by artist Jennifer J.L. Jones, which draws on five Chinese elements of nature (wood, fire, earth, metal and water).

An office building of 11 stories once stood on the site, and it housed the headquarters of The Arizona Bank until 1976. By 2004 the long-vacant building was being turned into condominium homes named Monroe Place Lofts, a 60-unit project that sold out quickly on strong demand. Grace Communities announced in May 2005 that the old building would be torn down and a 34-story tower built in its place.

The Arizona Bank Building was demolished in late 2005, and construction of 44 Monroe began. A "Going Vertical" party hosted by Grace Communities on April 6, 2006 signaled that the foundation was complete and construction would rise above ground. The tower topped out in the summer of 2007 and was completed in the fall of 2008. Plans described parking on seven above-ground floors and 196 residential units.

How it prints

Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

Landmark height and scale at three print sizes
Print size Landmark height Scale
160 mm default 31 mm 1:3,750
200 mm 39 mm 1:3,000
256 mm 50 mm 1:2,344

Fine floor bands
Fine horizontal bands mark the floors up the tall slim shaft. Layers of 0.12–0.16 mm keep them crisp, and a larger print size keeps the bands distinct.
Small rooftop details
Small boxes and fittings sit on the flat top. Print friendly adapts these small parts to the print scale, while Full detail keeps every modeled feature on a larger print.
Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. 44 Monroe takes the building color.
File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.

Common questions

Is there a 44 Monroe STL I can download?

Mini Skyline builds the file for you in your browser and exports 3MF, which every major slicer opens. If you need an STL, open the 3MF in your slicer and export it from there.

How big can I print it?

Any print size from 40 mm across. 44 Monroe grows with the print: about 31 mm tall on the default 160 mm print. For a model larger than your printer bed, Project Mode splits the area into tiles.

Is it free?

Yes. Generation runs in your browser, with no account and nothing behind a paywall.
