About the Al Fateh Grand Mosque

The Al-Fateh Mosque, also called the Al-Fateh Islamic Center and the Al Fateh Grand Mosque, is a large mosque in Manama, Bahrain, beside the Al Fateh Highway in Juffair, a suburban neighborhood. It covers 6,500 square meters (70,000 sq ft) and can hold more than 7,000 worshippers at a time. Sheikh Isa Bin Salman Al Khalifa built it in 1987, and it was named in honor of Ahmed Al Fateh.

The dome weighs 54 tonnes (60 short tons) and is made entirely of fiberglass; it was the largest fiberglass dome in the world. The floors are Italian marble, the chandelier came from Austria, and the doors are teak from India. Kufic calligraphy runs throughout the mosque. In 2006 the mosque complex became home to the National Library of Bahrain. The library of the Ahmed Al-Fateh Islamic Center holds approximately 7,000 books, some 100 years old or more, among them the Global Arabic Encyclopedia and the Encyclopedia of Islamic Jurisprudence.

How it prints

Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

Landmark height and scale at three print sizes
Print size Landmark height Scale

200 mm 26 mm 1:3,000

Slender minarets and tips
Two tall, thin minarets end in small domes. Print friendly adapts them to the print scale, while Full detail keeps them on larger prints or with a fine nozzle. Printing slowly with good cooling helps the tips.
Smooth domes and arcades
The large central dome, the small corner domes and the rows of arches are curved. Layers of 0.12 to 0.16 mm keep them smooth, and a larger print size keeps more detail.
One piece with the ground
The Al Fateh Grand Mosque is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The Al Fateh Grand Mosque takes the building color.
File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.

Common questions

Is there an Al Fateh Grand Mosque STL I can download?

Mini Skyline builds the file for you in your browser and exports 3MF, which every major slicer opens. If you need an STL, open the 3MF in your slicer and export it from there.

How big can I print it?

Any print size from 40 mm across. The Al Fateh Grand Mosque grows with the print: about 21 mm tall on the default 160 mm print. For a model larger than your printer bed, Project Mode splits the area into tiles.

Is it free?

Yes. Generation runs in your browser, with no account and nothing behind a paywall.
