Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

  1. A front tight to the town

The cathedral stands close against the buildings on its piazza, so its front wall carries most of the model. Printing slowly with steady cooling keeps that broad face even.

  2. Size for the front

At small print sizes the front and the roofline behind it begin to merge. A larger print, or Full detail with a fine nozzle, keeps them apart, and 0.12 to 0.16 mm layers keep the wall tops crisp.

  3. One piece with the ground

Amalfi Cathedral is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.

  4. Pick the detail for your nozzle

In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.

  5. Colors

Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. Amalfi Cathedral takes the building color.

  6. File format

You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.

About Amalfi Cathedral

The Duomo di Amalfi, a medieval Roman Catholic cathedral, faces Piazza del Duomo in Amalfi, Italy, and honors the Apostle Saint Andrew; his relics are kept inside. Until 1986 the archbishop of Amalfi had his seat here; the seat later passed to a diocese covering Amalfi and Cava de' Tirreni. Next to it stands the 9th-century Basilica of the Crucifix, part of the same complex.

Building began in the 9th and 10th centuries, and later work overlaid Arab-Norman, Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque elements, with a new Norman-Arab-Byzantine facade added in the 19th century. A 9th-century church, today the Diocesan Museum of Amalfi, rose on the ruins of an earlier temple, and a second church to the south in the 10th century now serves as the cathedral. The two were a single church with six aisles by the 12th century, reduced to five in the 13th century to make room for the Paradise Cloister.

A collapse in 1861 brought down part of the facade and damaged the atrium, and the whole front was rebuilt to a design by the architect Errico Alvino, finished in 1891, its striped marble and stone carrying a tall pediment of mosaics. Sixty-two steps lead up to the doors, wide and steep, and the bronze doors were cast in Constantinople before 1066, are signed by Simeon of Syria, and are the earliest post-Roman doors made in Italy. The Romanesque bell tower is topped by four small towers around a bigger one, all decorated with majolica tiles.
