About the American Airways Hangar and Administration Building
The building known as American Airways Hangar and Administration Building stands at Fort Worth Meacham International Airport in Texas. Both the hangar and the office opened in 1933, at a construction cost of $150,000. Abraham Epstein, a Russian-born architect, designed the hangar. It is the oldest building at Meacham Field.
The building has two stories and covers 235 feet by 120 feet, built from brick, steel and reinforced concrete. About two-thirds of it, to the south, is the hangar. The remaining third, to the north, is the two-story brick administration building. Fluted cast stone pilasters run along the building, and the American Airlines eagle appears in bas-relief on their capitals. Cast stone letters spelling American Airways sit at the center of the administration building, with the eagle above them. Its National Register of Historic Places listing dates from April 16, 2008.
How it prints
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
| Print size | Landmark height | Scale |
|---|---|---|
| 160 mm default | 4 mm | 1:3,750 |
| 200 mm | 5 mm | 1:3,000 |

- Long arched roof
- The hangar has a wide, gently curved roof. Layers of 0.12 to 0.16 mm keep the curve smooth, and a larger print size helps, because the whole building is low and small.
- Pilasters on the office front
- The office block has thin pilasters and a small sign panel. Print friendly adapts these small details to the print scale, while Full detail keeps them on larger prints.
- One piece with the ground
- The American Airways Hangar and Administration Building is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
- In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
- Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The American Airways Hangar and Administration Building takes the building color.
- File format
- You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
