11 mm tall on a 160 mm print
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
- Wall detail at small sizes
A church of this size carries much of its detail in small wall features, which shrink at model scale. A larger print keeps them readable, and Print friendly adapts thin parts to the print scale.
- Straight walls, small openings
Layers of 0.12 to 0.16 mm keep the long vertical lines and small openings crisp. Printing slowly with good cooling helps the tallest parts stay clean.
- One piece with the ground
The Basilica of San Simpliciano is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The Basilica of San Simpliciano takes the building color.
- File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About the Basilica of San Simpliciano
The Basilica of San Simpliciano is a Roman Catholic church in the center of Milan, in the Lombardy region of Italy. The 4th-century bishop Ambrose commissioned it as the Basilica Virginum, and his successor Simplician finished the work and was buried there. The church is dedicated to Simplician. It is the second-oldest Christian church known to have a Latin cross plan.
The site had held a pagan cemetery in the 3rd century. A brick stamped for the Lombard King Agilulf records repairs between 590 and 615 AD, and the Cluniac Benedictines gained the church in the ninth century. In the 12th and 13th centuries the building was reworked into the Romanesque form seen today, while the older walls were kept to a height of 22 meters.
Inside, the church is laid out as a Latin cross, with a nave of four bays and two aisles. Its side chapels have decorations from the Renaissance to the Neoclassical period, and the right transept holds Alessandro Varotari's Defeat of the Cammolesi. The apse vault holds the Incoronation of Mary, counted as Ambrogio da Fossano's masterwork. The bell tower keeps Late Renaissance mullioned windows, and the facade was reworked in 1870.
