About the Bosco Verticale
The Bosco Verticale, or Vertical Forest, consists of two residential skyscrapers in Milan's Porta Nuova district. Giovanni La Varra, Gianandrea Barreca and Stefano Boeri of Boeri Studio designed it. The taller tower is 116 m (381 ft) high and the shorter one 84 m (276 ft), and the complex also contains an 11-story office building. Both towers were inaugurated in 2014.
What sets the towers apart is the vegetation on their facades: over ninety species, among them tall shrubs and trees. The facades hold 730 trees (480 large and 250 small), 5,000 shrubs, 11,000 perennials and groundcover. In total, the plants match the vegetation of one hectare of forest. The project is meant as urban reforestation, increasing biodiversity through vertical greening. Evergreen species are placed on the southwest side and deciduous species on the northeast side. The towers take on pastel shades in spring and warmer hues in autumn.
The complex stands on Via Gaetano de Castillia and Via Federico Confalonieri, at the edge of the Isola district. On November 19, 2014, it won the International Highrise Award, a competition held every two years for newly completed buildings at least 100 m (330 ft) tall. In 2015 the CTBUH awards jury named it the 2015 Best Tall Building Worldwide.
How it prints
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
| Print size | Landmark height | Scale |
|---|---|---|
| 160 mm default | 30 mm | 1:3,750 |
| 200 mm | 38 mm | 1:3,000 |

- Tiny trees on the balconies
- Many small tree shapes sit on thin balcony ledges. Print friendly adapts these small details to your print scale; Full detail keeps them, which suits larger prints and a fine nozzle.
- Tall, narrow towers
- Both towers are tall and narrow. Print slowly with good cooling, and use layers of 0.12 to 0.16 mm to keep the ledges and tree crowns crisp.
- One piece with the ground
- The Bosco Verticale is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
- In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
- Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The Bosco Verticale takes the building color.
- File format
- You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About this model
The Bosco Verticale is one of more than 2,300 landmark models in Mini Skyline. They are made with AI, and each one is checked from four sides in its real surroundings before release. Everything around it is built from OpenStreetMap and Overture map data. If you would rather print the shape from map data, turn off Landmark models in the Buildings settings.
Common questions
Is there a Bosco Verticale STL I can download?
Mini Skyline builds the file for you in your browser and exports 3MF, which every major slicer opens. If you need an STL, open the 3MF in your slicer and export it from there.
How big can I print it?
Any print size from 40 mm across. The Bosco Verticale grows with the print: about 30 mm tall on the default 160 mm print. For a model larger than your printer bed, Project Mode splits the area into tiles.
Is it free?
Yes. Generation runs in your browser, with no account and nothing behind a paywall.
