16 mm tall on a 160 mm print
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
- An office block
An office block is mostly flat walls and straight roof lines. Use 0.12–0.16 mm layers for clean edges, and Print friendly for a small print.
- One piece with the ground
Bolshoy Dom is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. Bolshoy Dom takes the building color.
- File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About Bolshoy Dom
Bolshoy Dom, Russian for the Big House, is an office block in Saint Petersburg, Russia, at 4 Liteyny Avenue. It stands in the Central District at the start of Liteyny Prospekt, a block from the Neva River. It houses the FSB branches for Saint Petersburg and Leningrad Oblast, along with the Ministry of Internal Affairs' Main Department in the city.
The building was constructed between 1931 and 1932 for the OGPU, then the Soviet Union's secret police. It rose on the site of the old Imperial Russian armory, destroyed by fire in 1917. Noi Trotsky, alongside Alexander Gegello and Andrey Ol, all Soviet architects, designed it in the late Constructivist style.
Bolshoy Dom formed part of a larger complex that included a detention facility on Shpalernaya Street, and both gained notoriety as a place of detention during Stalin's Great Purge. In July 1934 it became the local headquarters of the NKVD, and it later passed to the KGB, remaining in that use until the Soviet Union collapsed in 1991. Urban legends about hidden underground floors led to jokes that it is the tallest building in Saint Petersburg.
