About the Celebrity Theatre

Phoenix, Arizona, is home to Celebrity Theatre, a theater in the round. Perry Neuschatz, an architect from Beverly Hills, planned the building as a circle 196 feet across, to serve as a conference hall and cultural center for many uses. His design won the 1964 top award of the Prestressed Concrete Institute (PCI). Gary Call served as associate architect, T. Y. Lin International handled the structure, and E. L. Farmer Construction Company built it.

The stage is round, 30 feet in diameter, and open to the audience on every side. The whole stage can complete a full revolution at a maximum of 0.5 revolutions per minute, so over a two-hour show everyone sees every part of it. For six years it was turned by hand, after Liberace suggested that the stage spin, and an electric motor took over in 1969. No seat among the 2650 is farther than 70 feet from the stage.

South Pacific, a musical starring Betsy Palmer, was the opening show on January 13, 1964. In 1978 George Carlin recorded his second HBO special here, which is regarded as the first stand-up set performed in the round. It was added to the Phoenix Historic Property Register (2013) and then to the National Register of Historic Places (2019).

How it prints

Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

Landmark height and scale at three print sizes
Print size Landmark height Scale
160 mm default 3 mm 1:3,750
200 mm 4 mm 1:3,000
256 mm 5 mm 1:2,344

Radial roof ribs
The roof is divided into many thin ribs fanning out from a central ring. A layer height of 0.12–0.16 mm keeps them distinct, and a larger print size shows them more clearly.
Railings around the base
A ring of fine balustrades and columns runs around the lower level. "Print friendly" adapts these thin parts to the print scale; "Full detail" keeps them for a fine nozzle.
One piece with the ground
The Celebrity Theatre is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The Celebrity Theatre takes the building color.
File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.

About this model

The Celebrity Theatre is one of more than 2,300 landmark models in Mini Skyline. They are made with AI, and each one is checked from four sides in its real surroundings before release. Everything around it is built from OpenStreetMap and Overture map data. If you would rather print the shape from map data, turn off Landmark models in the Buildings settings.

Common questions

Is there a Celebrity Theatre STL I can download?

Mini Skyline builds the file for you in your browser and exports 3MF, which every major slicer opens. If you need an STL, open the 3MF in your slicer and export it from there.

How big can I print it?

Any print size from 40 mm across. The Celebrity Theatre grows with the print: about 3 mm tall on the default 160 mm print. For a model larger than your printer bed, Project Mode splits the area into tiles.

Is it free?

Yes. Generation runs in your browser, with no account and nothing behind a paywall.
