About Discovery Children's Museum
Discovery Children's Museum is a Las Vegas, Nevada, nonprofit for kids that was formerly the Lied Discovery Children's Museum. Its three-story building, 5,400 m2 (58,000 sq ft) in size, neighbors The Smith Center, in Las Vegas's Downtown district. Robin Greenspun and Mark Tratos founded the museum in 1984. Together they arranged a partnership linking the Allied Arts Council and the Junior League of Las Vegas to fund an educational nonprofit serving the Las Vegas Valley.
A 1985 bond authorized the Las Vegas-Clark County Library project, together with the Lied museum, and the museum opened on September 9, 1990. In 2010 the museum announced plans for a new, larger home in Symphony Park, the Donald W. Reynolds Discovery Center, with a total cost of $50 million. In a gift to The Smith Center announced that August, the Donald W. Reynolds Foundation paid for completing its block in Symphony Park, and $43 million of it paid for the Discovery Center. The museum raised the other $7 million, and the new building opened on March 9, 2013.
How it prints
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
| Print size | Landmark height | Scale |
|---|---|---|

| 200 mm | 8 mm | 1:3,000 |

- Large thin arch on the front
- A big, slender arch with lettering spans the front of the building. Print friendly adapts it to the print scale; Full detail keeps it on a larger print.
- Small roof pieces
- A small pyramid-roofed piece and a flat box sit on the roof. A larger print size keeps them, and layers of 0.12–0.16 mm keep their edges crisp.
- One piece with the ground
- Discovery Children's Museum is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
- In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
- Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. Discovery Children's Museum takes the building color.
- File format
- You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About this model
Discovery Children's Museum is one of more than 2,300 landmark models in Mini Skyline. They are made with AI, and each one is checked from four sides in its real surroundings before release. Everything around it is built from OpenStreetMap and Overture map data. If you would rather print the shape from map data, turn off Landmark models in the Buildings settings.
Common questions
Is there a Discovery Children's Museum STL I can download?
Mini Skyline builds the file for you in your browser and exports 3MF, which every major slicer opens. If you need an STL, open the 3MF in your slicer and export it from there.
How big can I print it?
Any print size from 40 mm across. Discovery Children's Museum grows with the print: about 6 mm tall on the default 160 mm print. For a model larger than your printer bed, Project Mode splits the area into tiles.
Is it free?
Yes. Generation runs in your browser, with no account and nothing behind a paywall.
