About the The Platinum

East of the Las Vegas Strip, in Paradise, Nevada, stands The Platinum, a condo hotel with 17 stories and 255 units. Its address is 211 East Flamingo Road. Approval came in 2003, and building began in 2005 as a joint venture of two companies, Diversified Real Estate Concepts, Inc., with Marcus Hotels and Resorts. The tower reached its topping out in December 2005 and opened in October 2006.

A motel called the Highlander 6 Inn started the property's story in 1974. It was later a Comfort Inn and then an Econo Lodge. In 2003 the land was purchased by Michael Peterson, who headed Diversified Real Estate Concepts as its president and chief executive officer, and who had developed restaurants and condominiums elsewhere.

The Clark County Commission gave its approval in October 2003 to plans for a condo hotel with 255 rooms on a 1.7-acre site. A resident of the nearby Park Towers had appealed an earlier approval over parking, traffic and blocked views of the Strip, and the developer scaled the plan back to 255 units, down from 334, and to a height of 210 feet, down from 293. The primary architect was Morris & Brown Architects, from Solana Beach, California.

How it prints

Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

Landmark height and scale at three print sizes
Print size Landmark height Scale
160 mm default 19 mm 1:3,750
200 mm 24 mm 1:3,000
256 mm 31 mm 1:2,344

Round rooftop ring
A thin circular ring sits on one corner of the roof. Print friendly thickens it for the print scale; Full detail keeps it on a larger print.
Gridded window faces
The tower faces carry a fine grid of window lines. Layers of 0.12-0.16 mm and a larger print size help keep them readable.
One piece with the ground
The The Platinum is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The The Platinum takes the building color.
File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.

About this model

The The Platinum is one of more than 2,300 landmark models in Mini Skyline. They are made with AI, and each one is checked from four sides in its real surroundings before release. Everything around it is built from OpenStreetMap and Overture map data. If you would rather print the shape from map data, turn off Landmark models in the Buildings settings.

Common questions

Is there a The Platinum STL I can download?

Mini Skyline builds the file for you in your browser and exports 3MF, which every major slicer opens. If you need an STL, open the 3MF in your slicer and export it from there.

How big can I print it?

Any print size from 40 mm across. The The Platinum grows with the print: about 19 mm tall on the default 160 mm print. For a model larger than your printer bed, Project Mode splits the area into tiles.

Is it free?

Yes. Generation runs in your browser, with no account and nothing behind a paywall.
