About Fighter World Hangars
Fighter World, an aviation heritage center run not for profit, is in Australia at RAAF Base Williamtown, to the north of Newcastle in New South Wales. It belongs to RAAF Aviation and Heritage, with a mission of preserving the history of RAAF fighter operations. Most of its collection is fighter aircraft once flown by the RAAF. Among them are the Dassault Mirage IIIO A3-3 and de Havilland Vampire A79-1, each the first of its type built in Australia.
The land belongs to the Commonwealth, within the outer fence of the base and under 300 m (980 ft) away from the runway. The center began with a main administration building and a large display hangar with an observation deck. A second display hangar opened on September 7, 2000, and a third hangar, used as a workshop, opened in mid-2021. Aircraft are also displayed outdoors, together with the former airfield surveillance radar (SURAD) head of the base, and a cafe is on site.
The staff mixes paid employees, RAAF reservists and roughly 50 volunteers, most with previous RAAF experience. The volunteers maintain the exhibits and grounds, act as docents, and build new displays, including a detailed replica Sopwith Camel in the main hangar. More than 100 models built and painted by hand form a large collection of their own.
How it prints
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
| Print size | Landmark height | Scale |
|---|---|---|
| 160 mm default | 6 mm | 1:3,750 |
| 200 mm | 7 mm | 1:3,000 |
| 256 mm | 9 mm | 1:2,344 |

- A tall barrel vault
- The hangar is a single arched shell with a ribbed surface. A layer height of 0.12 to 0.16 mm keeps the ribs crisp, and a larger print keeps more of them.
- Small roof fittings
- Tiny vents sit along the crown and a small annex at one end. Print friendly adapts them to the print scale; Full detail keeps them on a larger print.
- One piece with the ground
- Fighter World Hangars is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
- In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
- Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. Fighter World Hangars takes the building color.
- File format
- You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About this model
Fighter World Hangars is one of more than 2,300 landmark models in Mini Skyline. They are made with AI, and each one is checked from four sides in its real surroundings before release. Everything around it is built from OpenStreetMap and Overture map data. If you would rather print the shape from map data, turn off Landmark models in the Buildings settings.
Common questions
Is there a Fighter World Hangars STL I can download?
Mini Skyline builds the file for you in your browser and exports 3MF, which every major slicer opens. If you need an STL, open the 3MF in your slicer and export it from there.
How big can I print it?
Any print size from 40 mm across. Fighter World Hangars grows with the print: about 6 mm tall on the default 160 mm print. For a model larger than your printer bed, Project Mode splits the area into tiles.
Is it free?
Yes. Generation runs in your browser, with no account and nothing behind a paywall.
