About World War II Aeroplane Hangar, Tocumwal
Tocumwal's hangar, in New South Wales, Australia, within Berrigan Shire, is a heritage-listed building that once served the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) as an aircraft hangar. The Allied Works Council built it in 1942 as part of RAAF Station Tocumwal, for housing and servicing B-24 Liberator bombers at McIntyre Field. In 2021 it joined the State Heritage Register of New South Wales.
A design from the Commonwealth Government's Works and Services Branch answered the steel shortage of the war with a local solution: timber. It was adapted for unseasoned hardwoods grown in Australia. Its gable-shaped trusses were built with shear connectors and joints of steel plate. Modified Type 3A hangars like this one have a clear span of 39.6 meters (130 ft).
McIntyre Field was a temporary air force base, built by the Allied Works Council amid fears of invasion. The United States Army Air Force used it, and the RAAF later took over and renamed it Tocumwal Airfield. In 1942 it was the biggest air base in Australia, and in the whole Southern Hemisphere. It was the first designated Liberator training center in the South-West Pacific.

- Squared pillars stand at the corners, and thin diagonal lines mark the long walls. A larger print size or Full detail keeps the lines readable.
- One piece with the ground
- World War II Aeroplane Hangar, Tocumwal is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
