About Gold Spike
Gold Spike is a bar and lounge in a seven-floor building in downtown Las Vegas, Nevada. The building opened in 1976 as the Rendezvous, a hotel with 112 rooms owned by the 76 Corporation. Jackie Gaughan bought it in 1983, after it had been shut for several months. For many years, as the Gold Spike Hotel & Casino, it was an inexpensive downtown hotel, with rooms that were decent, few amenities and a casino of decent size. Its hotel floors were later converted into workforce housing.
Greg Covin bought the property in July 2007 for $15.6 million, intending to turn it into a boutique hotel, and sold it to The Siegel Group in February 2008 for $21 million. The Siegel Group planned a complete renovation, combining it with an old, forgotten motel next door. The first floor, home to the gaming floor, bar and restaurant, was fully renovated by February 2009. Every guest floor and the exterior had been remodeled by April 2010, and the Oasis Pool opened in May 2010.
Downtown Project, Tony Hsieh's campaign to revitalize downtown Las Vegas, acquired the property's debt in April 2013, and the casino closed on April 14. After a three-week remodel it reopened on May 6, 2013, as a restaurant and bar. The Oasis at the Gold Spike occupies its own building on the same property. It was built in 1962 as the 57-room Travel Inn Motel, and after renovation and reconfiguration it was left with 50 rooms.
How it prints
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

- Raised block lettering
- Raised block letters spell out the name and "HOTEL" on the walls and the low roof. Print friendly adapts small lettering to the print scale; Full detail keeps it, which suits a larger print.
- A grid of window openings
- A regular grid of small window openings covers the tower. A bigger print size keeps them readable, and layers of 0.12 to 0.16 mm keep their edges clean.
- One piece with the ground
- Gold Spike is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
- In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
- Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. Gold Spike takes the building color.
- File format
- You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About this model
Gold Spike is one of more than 2,300 landmark models in Mini Skyline. They are made with AI, and each one is checked from four sides in its real surroundings before release. Everything around it is built from OpenStreetMap and Overture map data. If you would rather print the shape from map data, turn off Landmark models in the Buildings settings.
Common questions
Is there a Gold Spike STL I can download?
Mini Skyline builds the file for you in your browser and exports 3MF, which every major slicer opens. If you need an STL, open the 3MF in your slicer and export it from there.
How big can I print it?
Any print size from 40 mm across. Gold Spike grows with the print: about 7 mm tall on the default 160 mm print. For a model larger than your printer bed, Project Mode splits the area into tiles.
Is it free?
Yes. Generation runs in your browser, with no account and nothing behind a paywall.
