14 mm tall on a 160 mm print
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
- Clock tower and dome
The clock belfry, curved clock hood and ribbed dome are the smallest shapes at the top. Print friendly detail adapts them to the print scale; Full detail keeps the clock and sculpture on a larger print.
- Arcades and courtyards
The east front has an open triple arcade and both courtyards are modeled as open voids. Full detail and 0.12–0.16 mm layers help the arches and window surrounds stay crisp.
- One piece with the ground
The Hôtel de Ville, Lyon is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.

About the Hôtel de Ville, Lyon
The Hôtel de Ville is Lyon's city hall, standing between the Place de la Comédie and the Place des Terreaux, opposite the Opéra Nouvel. Among Lyon's largest historic buildings, it was commissioned during a 17th-century redevelopment that turned the Presqu'île into the city center, and construction was deliberately timed to start on September 5, 1646, King Louis XIV's birthday.
Simon Maupin designed it in the Renaissance Revival style, and ashlar stone was used for the construction. The council met there for the first time on November 14, 1652. Nine bays make up the west front facing the Place des Terreaux; the outer pairs project as pavilions, and a domed clock tower rises above a balustraded roofline. Several interior rooms were decorated by the painter Thomas Blanchet.
Fire damaged the building and its facade on September 13, 1674. Jules Hardouin-Mansart, working with his pupil Robert de Cotte, then restored and altered it. Revolutionaries took down the equestrian relief of Louis XIV, and during the Restoration it was replaced by a relief of Henry IV in the same pose. The French government designated the building a monument historique in 1886.
