Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

  1. Small details depend on print size

A barracks building has long, straight walls and small details. Printing at a larger size keeps small details, and Print friendly adapts thin parts for small prints.

  2. Fine layers for rooflines

A layer height of 0.12–0.16 mm keeps edges and rooflines crisp.

  3. One piece with the ground

The Hyde Park Barracks, Sydney is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.

  4. Pick the detail for your nozzle

In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.

  5. Colors

Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The Hyde Park Barracks, Sydney takes the building color.

  6. File format

You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.

About the Hyde Park Barracks, Sydney

Hyde Park Barracks is on Macquarie Street, in Sydney's central business district. Between 1817 and 1819 a brick building and compound went up here to house convict men and boys, to a design by the convict architect Francis Greenway. Governor Macquarie had asked Greenway to plan barracks for 600 men. The barracks officially opened on June 4, 1819, when 589 convicts were admitted, and as many as 1400 men lived there at one time.

The site has had many uses. By 1848 it had become the Female Immigration Depot, and it hosted the Orphan Institution until 1852. Courts then took over the buildings, and the complex became known as the Queen's Square Courts. It has also served as a hospital and a mint. After conservation works completed in 1984, a museum of Sydney opened in the buildings.

UNESCO lists the barracks among 11 pre-eminent Australian Convict Sites on its World Heritage List. It joined the State Heritage Register of New South Wales on April 2, 1999, and the Australian National Heritage List on August 1, 2007. In January 2019 the site closed for restoration work costing $18 million, and it reopened in February 2020.
