About India Gate
India Gate is a war memorial arch at the eastern end of New Delhi's ceremonial axis, beside the avenue known as Kartavya Path (Rajpath). It was first called the All India War Memorial. The arch honors 74,187 British Indian Army soldiers who lost their lives from 1914 to 1921, in the First World War and in the Third Anglo-Afghan War of 1919, in theaters such as France, Gallipoli, Mesopotamia and East Africa.
Sir Edwin Lutyens designed the gate. Its form echoes Roman triumphal arches like the Arch of Constantine, and it is frequently compared with the Arc de Triomphe in Paris and with Mumbai's Gateway of India. The gate is 42 m (138 ft) tall and rises in stages from a short base of red Bharatpur stone to a large cornice above a frieze of sunburst motifs. Each of its four faces has an arch, with the arches on the long sides larger and higher. Like the Cenotaph in London, which Lutyens also designed, it is a secular memorial without religious symbols.
The gate was one of the projects of the Imperial War Graves Commission, created in December 1917. The Duke of Connaught laid the foundation stone on February 10, 1921, and Viceroy Lord Irwin inaugurated the memorial on February 12, 1931. In the aftermath of the 1971 Indo-Pakistani war, a black marble plinth carrying an inverted rifle and a war helmet, with four eternal flames around it, was added under the arch. Named Amar Jawan Jyoti, it filled the role of the country's Tomb of the Unknown Soldier from 1971 until 2019.
How it prints
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
| Print size | Landmark height | Scale |
|---|---|---|
| 160 mm default | 11 mm | 1:3,750 |
| 200 mm | 14 mm | 1:3,000 |

- Fine courses and cornice detail
- The piers carry many thin horizontal courses, and the upper cornice and frieze are finely detailed. Print friendly adapts them to the print scale; Full detail keeps them all, best on a larger print with 0.12–0.16 mm layers.
- Open arches under a heavy top
- The arches leave open gaps beneath the stepped upper block and its shallow dome. A larger print size keeps the openings crisp.
- One piece with the ground
- India Gate is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
- In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
- Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. India Gate takes the building color.
- File format
- You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About this model
India Gate is one of more than 2,300 landmark models in Mini Skyline. They are made with AI, and each one is checked from four sides in its real surroundings before release. Everything around it is built from OpenStreetMap and Overture map data. If you would rather print the shape from map data, turn off Landmark models in the Buildings settings.
Common questions
Is there an India Gate STL I can download?
Mini Skyline builds the file for you in your browser and exports 3MF, which every major slicer opens. If you need an STL, open the 3MF in your slicer and export it from there.
How big can I print it?
Any print size from 40 mm across. India Gate grows with the print: about 11 mm tall on the default 160 mm print. For a model larger than your printer bed, Project Mode splits the area into tiles.
Is it free?
Yes. Generation runs in your browser, with no account and nothing behind a paywall.
