About Khalifa International Stadium

Khalifa International Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in Al Rayyan, Qatar, around 9 km (5.6 miles) west of central Doha. The ground combines an athletics track with a grass pitch. It opened in 1976 and carries the name of Khalifa bin Hamad Al Thani, who was Emir of Qatar at the time. It belongs to the Qatar Football Association and is the main home venue for Qatar's men's national team. All 22 games of the 4th Arabian Gulf Cup were played there.

In 2005 the stadium was folded into the Aspire Zone complex, and a grandstand with a roof was built, taking its capacity up from 20,000 to 40,000. Ahead of the 2006 Asian Games, the western stand was rebuilt as a two-tier grandstand with a roof over all its seats, and a large arch on the eastern side served as a platform for launching fireworks during the opening ceremony. After Qatar was awarded the 2022 FIFA World Cup in December 2010, the stadium was reconfigured again, to a final design by the international architecture firm Dar Al-Handasah.

Dar Al-Handasah's design put an extra tier on the east side and a new roof across the whole stadium. The stadium reopened in 2017 as the first of the eight World Cup venues to open, and its most distinctive feature is the pair of roof arches on the east and west sides. Athletics at the 2006 Asian Games, the 2011 Pan Arab Games and the 2019 World Athletics Championships took place there. Football there has included the 2019 FIFA Club World Cup and the 2022 FIFA World Cup, three Arabian Gulf Cup tournaments and AFC Asian Cup matches in 2011 and 2023.

How it prints

Make this print opens the generator on a 650 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

Giant arches and thin hangers
Two tall arches span the stadium, with thin vertical hangers beneath them. Print friendly adapts these thin parts to the print scale; Full detail keeps them, best on a larger print, printed slowly with good cooling.
A wavy roof ring
The roof ring rises and dips around an open center, above a ring of thin outer columns. Layers of 0.12–0.16 mm keep its curves smooth.
One piece with the ground
Khalifa International Stadium is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. Khalifa International Stadium takes the building color.
File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
