About the Tornado Tower
Tornado Tower, which also goes by QIPCO Tower, is an office skyscraper in Doha, Qatar. It reaches 195 m (640 ft) and has 52 floors. Construction ran from 2006 to 2008, carried out by MIDMAC and Six Construct, a subsidiary of the BESIX Group, while CICO Consulting Engineers handled the design and supervision. When delivered, the tower came with several innovations for energy efficiency and CO2 reduction. It is regarded as a variant of London's Gherkin.
The tower stands on a plot of 199,000 square feet, of which it covers only 32,300 square feet, leaving open space around it. Its circular footprint measures 97 feet across at the base and holds a restaurant and a bank at ground level. Because of its hourglass shape, rentable office space per floor runs between 13,560 and 25,800 square feet. Sixteen elevators serve about 904,000 square feet of offices, and 1500 parking spaces fill three underground levels. Terraces and balconies wrap the top three floors, which hold luxury offices, and the uppermost VIP floor opens directly onto a helicopter landing pad.
How it prints
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
| Print size | Landmark height | Scale |
|---|---|---|
| 160 mm default | 54 mm | 1:3,750 |
| 200 mm | 67 mm | 1:3,000 |
| 256 mm | 86 mm | 1:2,344 |

- Hourglass waist, lattice skin
- The tower narrows at its waist and carries a fine diagonal lattice. Print friendly adapts the lattice to the print scale; Full detail keeps it on a larger print, ideally with 0.12–0.16 mm layers.
- A delicate ring at the top
- A thin ring and railing circle the flat top. Print slowly with good cooling so the ring stays clean.
- One piece with the ground
- The Tornado Tower is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
- In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
- Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The Tornado Tower takes the building color.
- File format
- You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About this model
The Tornado Tower is one of more than 2,300 landmark models in Mini Skyline. They are made with AI, and each one is checked from four sides in its real surroundings before release. Everything around it is built from OpenStreetMap and Overture map data. If you would rather print the shape from map data, turn off Landmark models in the Buildings settings.
Common questions
Is there a Tornado Tower STL I can download?
Mini Skyline builds the file for you in your browser and exports 3MF, which every major slicer opens. If you need an STL, open the 3MF in your slicer and export it from there.
How big can I print it?
Any print size from 40 mm across. The Tornado Tower grows with the print: about 54 mm tall on the default 160 mm print. For a model larger than your printer bed, Project Mode splits the area into tiles.
Is it free?
Yes. Generation runs in your browser, with no account and nothing behind a paywall.
