Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

  1. A flat museum campus

The museum is a group of low buildings rather than one tall mass, so the print reads mainly from its plan. A larger print helps keep the separate blocks distinct, and 0.12–0.16 mm layers sharpen the upright walls.

  2. One piece with the ground

The Los Angeles County Museum of Art is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.

  3. Pick the detail for your nozzle

In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.

  4. Colors

Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The Los Angeles County Museum of Art takes the building color.

  5. File format

You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.

About the Los Angeles County Museum of Art

LACMA is an art museum on Wilshire Boulevard, in Los Angeles's Miracle Mile area. It is on Museum Row, next to the La Brea Tar Pits. The museum began in 1961 as a breakaway from the county's older history, science and art museum. Four years later it moved into William Pereira's Wilshire Boulevard complex. It is the biggest art museum in the western part of the United States and holds over 150,000 works, from ancient art to the present.

The opening complex had an Ahmanson Building, a Bing Center and a Lytton Gallery. Building work ran from 1963 to early 1965; a 1965 Los Angeles Times story put the three buildings' total cost at $11.5 million. Reflecting pools surrounded the buildings when the museum opened, and tar seeping in from the La Brea Tar Pits later led to their being filled and covered.

Later came the Robert O. Anderson Building for twentieth-century art, opened in 1986 and renamed in 2007 as the Art of the Americas Building. The Pavilion for Japanese Art, by Bruce Goff, followed in 1988. LACMA West opened in 1998 in the old May Company department store, and Renzo Piano's Broad Contemporary Art Museum opened on February 16, 2008. The museum also stages films and concerts.
