  1. The domed tower

The dome and tower are the tallest and narrowest part of the model, so print them slowly with cooling on. Print friendly detail adapts the tower's small details and edges to the print scale; Full detail suits a large print.

  2. One piece with the ground

The Neue Kirche, Berlin is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.

  3. Pick the detail for your nozzle

In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.

  4. Colors

Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The Neue Kirche, Berlin takes the building color.

  5. File format

You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.

About the Neue Kirche, Berlin

The New Church, or Neue Kirche, stands on the Gendarmenmarkt in Berlin, opposite the French Church of Friedrichstadt. German-speaking Lutheran and Calvinist congregants used the church, unlike the French-speaking congregation across the square, and their language together with the domed tower gave it the colloquial name Deutscher Dom, or German Cathedral. The church looks like a cathedral but no bishop ever had his seat there.

Giovanni Simonetti put up the first church between 1701 and 1708, to a design by Martin Grünberg; it was Friedrichstadt's third church, and in 1708 it became a Simultaneum shared by Calvinist and Lutheran congregations. The domed tower beside the prayer hall was begun in 1780, when Carl von Gontard planned it in the Palladian tradition, shaped after the Church of Sainte-Geneviève in Paris. The tower collapsed while under construction, and Georg Christian Unger carried out Gontard's plan.

The old prayer hall was pulled down in 1881 and replaced on a pentagonal plan with a neobaroque design by Johann Wilhelm Schwedler; the new hall was inaugurated on December 17, 1882. Badly hit in the World War II bombing raids on Berlin, the church was later rebuilt. It was deconsecrated and opened again in 1996 as a museum of German parliamentary history run by the Bundestag.
