6 mm tall on a 160 mm print
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
- Gable and narrow windows
The narrow Gothic windows and the gabled roof are the fine details in a print of a building like this. Print it larger so the windows stay open, and use 0.12 to 0.16 mm layers so the gable edges stay clean.
- One piece with the ground
The Old New Synagogue is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The Old New Synagogue takes the building color.
- File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About the Old New Synagogue
The Old New Synagogue in Josefov, Prague, is an Orthodox Jewish congregation and a synagogue; it is also called the Altneuschul. Completed in 1270, it is Europe's oldest active synagogue and the oldest surviving medieval synagogue built with a twin nave, and it ranks among Prague's earliest Gothic buildings. The Old Synagogue, an earlier Prague building, came down in 1867; the Spanish Synagogue now stands in its place.
For a time the building was simply the New, or Great, Synagogue; it became the Old-New once newer synagogues appeared in the 16th century. A second explanation links the name to al tnay, Hebrew for "on condition", which sounds the same as alt-nay, the Yiddish for old-new. By legend, angels brought the synagogue's stones from the Temple in Jerusalem, on condition that they go back when the Messiah comes and the Temple is rebuilt.
Inside, nine steps lead from the street to a vestibule, and a door leads into a double nave of six vaulted bays. Two large pillars run east to west down the middle, each holding the inner corner of four bays, and the bimah for reading the Torah stands between them. Every bay has two narrow Gothic windows, twelve in all, and the tympanum molding carries twelve bunches of grapes and twelve vines, standing for the twelve tribes. The Ark with the Torah scrolls is in the middle of the eastern wall, the women have an outer room with small windows, and the medieval roof framework, gable and party wall survive.
