About the Church of Our Lady before Týn

The Church of Our Lady before Týn, also called the Týn Church, is a Gothic building that stands out in the Old Town of Prague, Czechia. For this district it has been the principal church since the 14th century. Each of its two towers is 80 m high, and each spire carries eight smaller spires, set in two layers of four. Between the towers sits a Gothic gable with a Baroque relief of the Madonna.

In the 11th century a Romanesque church stood on the Old Town plaza, built for foreign merchants visiting the nearby Týn Courtyard. An early Gothic church replaced it in 1256, and the existing church was begun in the 14th century. Its late Gothic design reflects the influence first of Matthias of Arras and then of Peter Parler. The main building was finished in the 1450s. The gable and northern tower followed soon after, while the southern tower was finished in 1511 under the architect Matěj Rejsek.

The church is a vertical, three-aisled Gothic building with a pair of prismatic towers in the west, and four Gothic portals give access. The pair of towers is topped by decorated octagonal helmets and accompanied by a gallery, four turrets at the corners and four more halfway up. Inside, the furnishings are mostly Baroque, including a pipe organ built by Jan J. Mundt between 1670 and 1673, one of the three oldest preserved in Prague. The baptistery of 1414 is the oldest and largest in the city.

Twin spires with small spirelets
Each tower ends in a tall spire ringed by smaller ones. Print slowly with good cooling and use 0.12–0.16 mm layers, and Print friendly adapts these thin tips to the print scale.
Pinnacles and tall windows
Small pinnacles crowd the gable and buttresses, and tall narrow windows run along the walls. A larger print size keeps them distinct, and Full detail keeps every modeled feature on a fine nozzle.
One piece with the ground
The Church of Our Lady before Týn is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The Church of Our Lady before Týn takes the building color.
File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
