About Phoenix Symphony Hall

Phoenix's Symphony Hall serves as a multi-purpose performing arts venue in downtown Phoenix, Arizona, at 75 North 2nd Street. It forms part of Phoenix Civic Plaza, with the Phoenix Convention Center's West Building to its north. Charles Luckman designed it in the Brutalist style, with construction running from 1969 to 1972.

Ballet Arizona, Arizona Opera and the Phoenix Symphony are its resident companies, and the hall also hosts Broadway touring companies, dance productions, business seminars and convention general sessions. An $18.5 million renovation in June 2004 coincided with construction of the Convention Center's neighboring West Building. The hall has 2,312 seats, whose wood bases improve acoustics, and a stage area of 60 by 100 feet (18.29 by 30.48 m).

In The Gauntlet, a 1977 Clint Eastwood film, the hall's exterior stands in for Phoenix City Hall, and a bus crashes onto its steps at the climax of the movie. The hall has also been designated a Phoenix Point of Pride.

How it prints

Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

Landmark height and scale at three print sizes
Print size Landmark height Scale
160 mm default 10 mm 1:3,750
200 mm 12 mm 1:3,000
256 mm 15 mm 1:2,344

Blocky, stacked volumes
The hall is a cluster of boxy volumes under a faceted roof, so most of the print is flat planes. A layer height of 0.12 to 0.16 mm gives clean edges, and a larger print size separates the volumes better.
One piece with the ground
Phoenix Symphony Hall is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. Phoenix Symphony Hall takes the building color.
File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.

About this model

Phoenix Symphony Hall is one of more than 2,300 landmark models in Mini Skyline. They are made with AI, and each one is checked from four sides in its real surroundings before release. Everything around it is built from OpenStreetMap and Overture map data. If you would rather print the shape from map data, turn off Landmark models in the Buildings settings.

Common questions

Is there a Phoenix Symphony Hall STL I can download?

Mini Skyline builds the file for you in your browser and exports 3MF, which every major slicer opens. If you need an STL, open the 3MF in your slicer and export it from there.

How big can I print it?

Any print size from 40 mm across. Phoenix Symphony Hall grows with the print: about 10 mm tall on the default 160 mm print. For a model larger than your printer bed, Project Mode splits the area into tiles.

Is it free?

Yes. Generation runs in your browser, with no account and nothing behind a paywall.
