About Ramanathaswamy Temple
Dedicated to the god Shiva, Ramanathaswamy Temple stands on Rameswaram island in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is counted among the twelve Jyotirlinga temples and among the Char Dham pilgrimage sites, and it is also among the 276 Paadal Petra Sthalams, sacred sites celebrated in song by the Nayanars, who were Shaivite poet-saints. Shaivites, Vaishnavites and Smartas all regard it as a pilgrimage site.
Tradition holds that Rama set up the temple's lingam, an aniconic form of Shiva, and worshipped it before crossing the Rama Setu bridge to Lanka, identified with Sri Lanka. Inside the sanctum are two lingams: according to tradition, one built from sand by Rama, called the Ramalingam, and the other, called the Vishvalingam, brought by Hanuman from Kailash. The Pandya Dynasty expanded the temple during the 12th century, and the Jaffna monarchs Jeyaveera Cinkaiariyan and Gunaveera Cinkaiariyan renovated the sanctum of its principal shrine.
A high compound wall surrounds the premises, with huge towers called gopurams on the east and west sides and gate towers on the north and south sides. No other Hindu temple in India has a corridor as long, and the corridors run between huge colonnades. The outer corridor has about 1,212 pillars, and the main tower, the rajagopuram, is 53 m tall. Dalavai Setupati built part of the principal eastern gopuram during the seventeenth century, and in the late eighteenth century Muthuramalinga Setupati, who ruled from 1763 to 1795, constructed the third corridor.
How it prints
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

- Rows of slim columns
- Colonnades and arches run around the compound. Print friendly adapts these thin columns to your print scale; Full detail keeps every one, which suits a larger print or a fine nozzle.
- Small domes and roofline studs
- Small domes sit on the roofs, and rows of tiny studs run along the edges. A larger print size and layers of 0.12 to 0.16 mm help keep these small details readable.
- One piece with the ground
- Ramanathaswamy Temple is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
- In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
- Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. Ramanathaswamy Temple takes the building color.
- File format
- You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
