  1. Bell tower and roof

A church like this reads through its bell tower and long roof. Print it larger to keep the tower edges and roof lines crisp, with layers at 0.12–0.16 mm.

  2. One piece with the ground

The Church of Saint-Germain-des-Prés is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.

  3. Pick the detail for your nozzle

In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.

  4. Colors

Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The Church of Saint-Germain-des-Prés takes the building color.

  5. File format

You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.

About the Church of Saint-Germain-des-Prés

Saint-Germain-des-Prés is a Catholic parish church in the Paris quarter that shares its name, and it is often called the city's oldest existing church. It began as the church of a Benedictine abbey that Childebert I, son of Clovis, founded in 558 to display relics from the siege of Zaragoza: a piece of the True Cross and a piece of Saint Vincent's tunic.

The abbey took the name of Saint Germain, a bishop of the sixth century, in the eighth century, and Vikings destroyed it before it was rebuilt. The church was given flying buttresses in the twelfth century, the earliest in the Ile de France. Pope Alexander III consecrated the rebuilt church on April 21, 1163; after the west portal fell in 1604, Marcel Le Roy supplied the classicizing one that still stands.

Originally the church stood beyond the medieval city walls, among the Left Bank fields and meadows called les Prés, at the heart of an abbey complex known for its scholarship and its illuminated manuscripts; it held the tombs of Germain and Childebert, along with other Merovingian rulers. Most of the abbey was destroyed during the French Revolution, apart from the Bishop's palace and the chapel, which was later restored and took over as the parish church. The philosopher René Descartes is buried in one of the side chapels.
