11 mm tall on a 160 mm print
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
- A church at print scale
A church model reads best at a larger print size, where the roofline and wall surfaces stay distinct. Below that, Print friendly adapts thin parts and small details to the scale.
- One piece with the ground
Saint-Germain l'Auxerrois is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. Saint-Germain l'Auxerrois takes the building color.
- File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About Saint-Germain l'Auxerrois
Saint-Germain l'Auxerrois is a church in Paris's 1st arrondissement, opposite the Louvre Palace. It is named for Germanus of Auxerre, a bishop and papal envoy of the Middle Ages, who met Genevieve, who would become Paris's patron saint. She is reputed to have brought Queen Clotilde and her husband Clovis I, the French king, into Christianity at Germanus's tomb in Auxerre.
A small oratory went up on the site in the 5th century to commemorate the meeting of Germanus and Genevieve. Either Chilperic I, king of the Franks, built a larger church on the site around 560, or Saint Landry of Paris did around 650. After the Normans destroyed that church in 886, King Robert II the Pious rebuilt it, and further work took place in the 12th century. Construction of the present church began in the 13th century; the 15th and 16th centuries brought major changes.
Between 1608 and 1806 the Louvre's residents had it as their parish church, and many artists and architects linked to the palace are buried inside. The bell known as Marie rang on the night of August 23, 1572, signaling that the St. Bartholomew's Day Massacre was beginning. The French Revolution brought closure and a string of uses: a barn, a print shop, a gunpowder works. Jean-Baptiste Lassus and Victor Baltard then led a restoration from 1838 to 1855. Notre-Dame's services moved here during the cathedral's reconstruction after the 2019 fire.
