14 mm tall on a 160 mm print
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
- Cross-shaped plan at print scale
The church spreads across a cross-shaped plan, so the whole building is small at the default print size. Print larger, or keep Full detail, to keep the plan readable.
- Layers for wall and roof edges
Use 0.12–0.16 mm layers so the wall and roof edges stay clean where the building parts meet.
- One piece with the ground
Saint Mark's Coptic Orthodox Cathedral is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. Saint Mark's Coptic Orthodox Cathedral takes the building color.
- File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About Saint Mark's Coptic Orthodox Cathedral
Saint Mark's Coptic Orthodox Cathedral is a Coptic church in Cairo's Abbassia District and the seat of the Coptic pope. Pope Cyril VI of Alexandria held office when it was built, and the cathedral was consecrated on June 25, 1968, in a ceremony with Emperor Haile Selassie of Ethiopia and President Gamal Abdel Nasser of Egypt among the guests. The church is dedicated to Saint Mark the Evangelist, an apostle and the founder of the Coptic Orthodox Church, and relics relating to his life are kept in the cathedral.
The site has a long history: it was once the village of p-Sovt em-p-Hoi, and Jawhar gave the land to the Coptic Church in 969. During the twelfth century the area held ten Coptic churches. In 1943 the governorate of Cairo tried to take the land for public use. The General Congregation Council, whose secretary was Habib Elmasry, opposed the move, and the church kept the land on condition that a non-profit building went up within fifteen years; that condition led to the building of the cathedral.
The plan of the cathedral is a cross. The competition for drawing and designing it was won by Awad Kamel and Salim Kamel Fahmy, Michel Bakhoum prepared the structural design, and builders from Nile General Company for Reinforced Concrete put it up. It contains seven churches, among them the historic Church of St. Rewiss, and it holds 5,000 worshipers. No cathedral in Africa or the Middle East was larger until 2019, when the new Nativity Cathedral was inaugurated.
