10 mm tall on a 160 mm print
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
- Mind the upper stages
The bell tower and domes are the smallest parts of the silhouette. Print larger or use Full detail so they stay distinct, and keep layers at 0.12–0.16 mm.
- One piece with the ground
Saint Sampson's Cathedral is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. Saint Sampson's Cathedral takes the building color.
- File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About Saint Sampson's Cathedral
Saint Sampson's Cathedral is the oldest surviving church in Saint Petersburg, Russia. It occupies the city's northern outskirts, and Sampsonievsky Avenue takes its name from it. A wooden church first rose here in 1710, honoring Sampson the Hospitable. On that saint's feast day, Peter the Great won the Battle of Poltava against Charles XII of Sweden.
Empress Anna's reign saw the present church built following plans by Pietro Antonio Trezzini, and it was consecrated in 1740. Its tent-like belltower came later, and four smaller domes were added in 1761 around the original single dome. A graveyard surrounds the church, and the graves include several of the city's earliest foreign architects.
The church was renovated for the bicentennial of the battle, when a Rastrelliesque chapel was built and it gained cathedral status. The Soviets disbanded the parish in the 1930s, and the building became a warehouse. Restoration followed in the late 1970s, and in 2000 the building reopened as a museum associated with St. Isaac's Cathedral.
