About the Shrine of Remembrance
The Shrine of Remembrance, often called The Shrine, stands in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, at the Kings Domain beside St Kilda Road. This war memorial was built to honor the Victorian men and women who served in World War I. It also serves as a memorial to every Australian who has served in any war. It is counted among Australia's largest war memorials, and Anzac Day (April 25) and Remembrance Day (November 11) are observed there every year.
The architects Phillip Hudson and James Wardrop, who were both World War I veterans, drew on two ancient models for the Shrine's classical style: the Parthenon in Athens, Greece, and the Tomb of Mausolus at Halicarnassus. A crowning element on top of the ziggurat roof refers to the Choragic Monument of Lysicrates. The Shrine is built from Tynong granite, and a crypt beneath the sanctuary holds a bronze statue showing a soldier father and son, plus panels that list every Australian Imperial Force unit.
The marble Stone of Remembrance in the sanctuary carries an engraved line from John 15:13, "Greater love hath no man". Once a year, on November 11 at 11 a.m., a ray of sunlight passes through an opening in the roof and lights the word "Love" in the inscription. The project began in 1918 with a proposal for a Victorian memorial, the foundation stone was laid on November 11, 1927, and the official dedication came on November 11, 1934.
How it prints
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
| Print size | Landmark height | Scale |
|---|---|---|
| 160 mm default | 8 mm | 1:3,750 |
| 200 mm | 10 mm | 1:3,000 |
| 256 mm | 12 mm | 1:2,344 |

- Stepped roof and columns
- The ziggurat roof has many fine steps, and the porticos have rows of slim columns. A layer height of 0.12 to 0.16 mm keeps the steps crisp, and Print friendly adapts thin columns to the print scale.
- Corner figures and lettering
- Small figures stand at the corners and lettering marks the walls. Full detail keeps them on a larger print, while Print friendly may simplify them at small sizes.
- One piece with the ground
- The Shrine of Remembrance is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
- In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
- Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The Shrine of Remembrance takes the building color.
- File format
- You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About this model
The Shrine of Remembrance is one of more than 2,300 landmark models in Mini Skyline. They are made with AI, and each one is checked from four sides in its real surroundings before release. Everything around it is built from OpenStreetMap and Overture map data. If you would rather print the shape from map data, turn off Landmark models in the Buildings settings.
Common questions
Is there a Shrine of Remembrance STL I can download?
Mini Skyline builds the file for you in your browser and exports 3MF, which every major slicer opens. If you need an STL, open the 3MF in your slicer and export it from there.
How big can I print it?
Any print size from 40 mm across. The Shrine of Remembrance grows with the print: about 8 mm tall on the default 160 mm print. For a model larger than your printer bed, Project Mode splits the area into tiles.
Is it free?
Yes. Generation runs in your browser, with no account and nothing behind a paywall.
