160 m of the Shukhov Tower, 40 mm on your shelf
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
- Small base, tall shaft
The tower stands on a compact footprint, so slow the print for the tall upper section and keep cooling on. A 0.12–0.16 mm layer height keeps the vertical edges clean.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The Shukhov Tower takes the building color.
- File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About the Shukhov Tower
The Shukhov Tower in Moscow, sometimes called the Shabolovka Tower, stands as a broadcasting tower that was designed by Vladimir Shukhov. Its free-standing steel diagrid rises 160 meters (520 ft), and it was put up between 1920 and 1922, while the Russian Civil War was underway. The form is a rotated hyperboloid; Shukhov had invented the first hyperboloid structure anywhere, in 1890. Its designer sought greater strength and rigidity with as little material as possible.
The Khodynka station, which dated from 1914, was struggling with the volume of radiograms. Shukhov's construction office won the competition to design the tower after Lenin signed a decree in 1919 calling for a powerful new radio station. The original plan called for a nine-section tower 350 meters (1,150 ft) tall, exceeding the Eiffel Tower's height by 15 meters (49 ft), while the tower as built reaches 160 meters (520 ft).
About this model
The Shukhov Tower is one of more than 4,400 landmark models in Mini Skyline. They are made with AI, and each one is checked from four sides in its real surroundings before release. Everything around it is built from OpenStreetMap and Overture map data. If you would rather print the shape from map data, turn off Landmark models in the Buildings settings.
