About Moscow State University
The M. V. Lomonosov Moscow State University, usually called MSU, is a public research university based in Moscow, Russia. Its founding was promoted by Ivan Shuvalov and Mikhail Lomonosov, and Russian Empress Elizabeth decreed it on January 23, 1755 (January 12 in the Old Style calendar). The university began in the Principal Medicine Store, which stood on Red Square, and stayed there from 1755 to 1787, before Catherine the Great moved it to a building across Mokhovaya Street, designed by Matvei Kazakov.
Sparrow Hills in southwest Moscow has been home to most of the faculties since 1953. Until 1990 the main building held the title of tallest building in Europe, and its central tower is 240 m tall and 36 stories high. The main building holds the Museum of Earth Sciences, the university's administration and several faculties, among them Geology and Geography. On September 6, 1997, the French electronic musician Jean Michel Jarre performed with the university's front as his backdrop, and half a million people paid to attend.
How it prints
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
| Print size | Landmark height | Scale |
|---|---|---|
| 160 mm default | 66 mm | 1:3,750 |
| 200 mm | 82 mm | 1:3,000 |

- Slender spire and star
- The central tower ends in a thin spire topped by a small star. Print friendly adapts the spire to your print scale; Full detail keeps it, so print slowly and use layers of 0.12 to 0.16 mm for a crisp tip.
- Small pinnacles on the tiers
- Small pinnacles and clock faces sit on the stepped tiers and corner towers. A larger print keeps more of them, and Print friendly adapts the smallest to your print scale.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
- In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
- Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. Moscow State University takes the building color.
- File format
- You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
