54 m of St. Catherine's Church, Frankfurt, 15 mm on your shelf
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
- A tall church tower
A church tower is a thin, tall feature, so print slowly with good cooling. Use 0.12–0.16 mm layers so the upper edges stay sharp; a larger print holds the small details better.
- One piece with the ground
St. Catherine's Church, Frankfurt is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. St. Catherine's Church, Frankfurt takes the building color.
- File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About St. Catherine's Church, Frankfurt
St. Catherine's Church, known in German as the Katharinenkirche, is Frankfurt am Main's largest Protestant church. It stands in the old city center near the Hauptwache, one of the city's most famous squares, and it is dedicated to Saint Catherine of Alexandria. Johann Wolfgang von Goethe was baptized here in 1749.
Melchior Heßler built the church from 1678 to 1681 in a Baroque style; it stands 54 m (177 ft) high. The exterior stayed modest, while the inside became a lavish Baroque installation, with galleries on three sides and a cycle of paintings. Church music has a long tradition here, and the Rieger organ installed in 1990 is at the center of a regular concert series.
An air raid on March 22, 1944, destroyed much of the old town, St. Catherine's included. Work began at Pentecost 1950 and finished in October 1954, with Theo Kellner and Wilhelm Massing as architects. The exterior was restored to look much as before, while the interior stayed plain, its main decoration 17 stained windows by Charles Crodel. More detailed restoration of the exterior and interior was completed between 1978 and 2005, and the steeple and the roof were fully restored in 2011.
