10 mm tall on a 160 mm print
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
- Print size for the outline
The cathedral's walls and roofline carry its outline, so a larger print leaves more room for both. Print friendly adapts small parts; Full detail keeps every modeled feature.
- Layers for clean edges
Layers of 0.12 to 0.16 mm keep the wall corners and roof edge crisp on the default print.
- One piece with the ground
The St. Hedwig's Cathedral is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The St. Hedwig's Cathedral takes the building color.
- File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About the St. Hedwig's Cathedral
St. Hedwig's Cathedral serves Berlin's archdiocese as its Catholic cathedral and stands on Bebelplatz, in the historic heart of the city. Frederick the Great commissioned it, and the plans came from Georg Wenzeslaus von Knobelsdorff, working in the Baroque style. Before it, no Catholic church had gone up in Prussia since the Reformation, and the design took the Pantheon in Rome as its model. Building began in 1747, but money problems caused delays, and the church was consecrated only on November 1, 1773.
An Allied air raid on March 1, 1943 left the building badly damaged, with only its shell still standing. Work to rebuild it began in 1952; the new high altar was consecrated on November 1, 1963, and the interior received a post-war modernist treatment while the Forum Fridericianum on Bebelplatz was rebuilt. Between 1949 and 1990 the cathedral lay in East Berlin. It is a listed building.
Renovation work closed St. Hedwig's on September 1, 2018; it reopened on November 24, 2024, its interior redesigned in a modern style. The 1963 two-story interior was split into two levels, with the church on the upper one, and a hemispherical altar of small stones collected by parishioners was added.
