14 mm tall on a 160 mm print
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
- A tall church tower
A church with a tall tower has thin vertical elements. Print slowly with good cooling, and use 0.12–0.16 mm layers for the upper parts.
- One piece with the ground
St. Nicholas Naval Cathedral is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. St. Nicholas Naval Cathedral takes the building color.
- File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About St. Nicholas Naval Cathedral
St. Nicholas Naval Cathedral is a Baroque Orthodox cathedral in western central Saint Petersburg, Russia. It stands beside the Kryukov Canal. Savva Chevakinsky, the Russian Navy's main architect, designed this marine regimental church; it was built between 1753 and 1762, replacing an earlier wooden church. The cathedral has long been tied to the Russian Navy; until the Russian Revolution, it served as the Navy's main shrine.
A freestanding bell tower rose in 1755-1758, topped by a tall gilded spire. The cathedral contains two churches. One, the Saint Nicholas Church, occupies ground level; the other, the Epiphany Church, sits above it. Catherine the Great attended the consecration of the altar in the upper church, and the lower church holds a Greek icon of St. Nicholas from the 17th century, with part of his relics.
The plan is cruciform, and the exterior is decorated with Corinthian columns, stucco architraves and a wide entablature, and it is crowned by five gilded domes. It can hold up to 5,000 people, and it is a major example of Elizabethan, or Rastrelliesque, Baroque. Memorial plaques in the upper church remember crews of sunken Soviet submarines, among them the K-278 Komsomolets and the K-141 Kursk.
