About the The Phoenician

In Scottsdale, The Phoenician is a luxury resort that rose on the old grounds of a historic property, the Jokake Inn. It was a project of the financier Charles Keating, who bought land at the foot of Camelback Mountain in 1985, which already held Elizabeth Arden's Maine Chance Spa as well as that inn. Opening day was October 1, 1988.

Keating hired Killingsworth, Stricker, Lindgren, Wilson and Associates, a firm in Long Beach, California, as architects. A Vermont firm, JGL Associates, designed the Centre for Well Being spa. White marble for the lobby was imported from Carrara, Italy, and craftsmen from Tonga came to Scottsdale to build the tropical gardens around the hotel. Over $300 million went into construction.

Opening-year accommodations came to 604 rooms, 132 casitas, and two special suites, one VIP and one presidential. 24 karat gold covered the lobby dome. The cactus garden, holding more than 250 varieties, ranked second in size within the state at completion. The hotel bought 9 Steinway grand pianos, the largest order in that company's history. Keating's ownership ended in 1989, when the resort was seized after he was indicted over his part in the savings and loan crisis.

How it prints

Make this print opens the generator on a 850 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

Landmark height and scale at three print sizes
Print size Landmark height Scale

200 mm 9 mm 1:4,250
256 mm 12 mm 1:3,320

Long curved wings
Two long curved wings carry fine horizontal lines of balconies. Layers of 0.12–0.16 mm keep those lines crisp; Print friendly adapts the thinnest details on a small print, and a larger print keeps more of them.
One piece with the ground
The The Phoenician is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The The Phoenician takes the building color.
File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.

About this model

The The Phoenician is one of more than 2,300 landmark models in Mini Skyline. They are made with AI, and each one is checked from four sides in its real surroundings before release. Everything around it is built from OpenStreetMap and Overture map data. If you would rather print the shape from map data, turn off Landmark models in the Buildings settings.

Common questions

Is there a The Phoenician STL I can download?

Mini Skyline builds the file for you in your browser and exports 3MF, which every major slicer opens. If you need an STL, open the 3MF in your slicer and export it from there.

How big can I print it?

Any print size from 40 mm across. The The Phoenician grows with the print: about 7 mm tall on the default 160 mm print. For a model larger than your printer bed, Project Mode splits the area into tiles.

Is it free?

Yes. Generation runs in your browser, with no account and nothing behind a paywall.
